Is anyone else freaking out because summer is almost over? Just me? I don’t know what’s going on here in Toronto, but the weather is definitely shifting to fall and I am not ok with it.
On the bright side, I get to go back to sunny Vancouver next week for work, so maybe the weather will be a bit nicer there. It’s crazy, I’ve counted how many times I’ve flown back to Vancouver since January and with this next trip it’ll be 4! I think I’m officially bicoastal because I’ve never felt more comfortable going through customs and boarding that plane back and forth. Plus, this trip is strictly a work trip so I don’t have to foot the bill for the plane ticket!
In other news, I’ve been extremely busy with my podcast lately. I want to make sure I stay at least two months ahead of myself, and man is that a lot of work. I definitely didn’t realize how much work it would be to produce a podcast before I started it, that’s for sure. Blogging in comparison is a walk in the park! With a podcast I’ve got to set up the interviews (which can be quite a few emails back and forth), block that time off in my calendar, do research about my guest, record the interview, edit it, upload and schedule it to my hosting service, write up the show notes, notify my guest of when it goes live, then when it goes live I’ve got to update my Podcast Page and send my guest all of the links. It’s a pretty big process, and not a cheap one either. For Monday I’ll be sharing a post comparing starting a blog to starting a podcast which I think you may find pretty interesting.
On the topic of podcasts, something I’m really hoping to achieve is to get my podcast nominated for a Plutus Award. The Plutus Awards are the awards they hand out annually at FinCon, the personal finance blogging and podcasting conference. I went to last year’s conference and noticed that none of the podcasting nominees were women. That definitely needs to change, so if you’d like to help me out, please nominate me!
